Let’s talk about Jaya’s model.

Do you know about New Guinea?
The western half of the island of New Guinea is Indonesia, and the eastern half is Papua New Guinea.

The other day when I was talking to an Indonesian friend, I learned that the Papua New Guinea part was originally called Jaya.

An island between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea is split neatly in half right in the middle.

Very similar to Jaya.

Jaya is set in a setting where half of the island has flown into the sky, and because it is modeled after an island in Southeast Asia, it has a tropical rainforest climate.

It also matches the fact that Luffy caught the Hercules beetle and the Atlas beetle, and as a world heritage site, it is the Sangiran Early Human Ruins.

Since it is a world heritage site for early humans, apes and monkeys, “Masira” and “Shojo” are also connected there.

“Mashira” is an old way of saying monkey, and “shojo” means “orangutan” in kanji, and the ship is the Wutan Sonar, which has an orangutan motif.

“MORINOHITO” is written on the ship’s flag, but orangutan itself means “man of the forest” in Malay.

It makes sense since nearly 90% of the world’s orangutans live in Indonesia.
